The Moon’s Illuminated Fraction indicator is a plot of the fraction of the Moon’s disk illuminated by the Sun each day. The indicator output ranges from zero to one. Example: the Moon’s Illuminated Fraction of .23 means that .23 of the Moon’s disk area is illuminated by the Sun. Zero corresponds to a New Moon; 0.5 is a First or Last Quarter, and 1.0 is a Full Moon.
The Moon’s Illuminated Fraction is calculated for 0:00 GMT (Greenwich Mean Time midnight).
